Jatiya Party yesterday announced names of its candidates for 47 out of the 50 seats it has been allotted as part of Awami League-led grand alliance.

In a press release, it also said a contestant from any component of the grand alliance will be considered the coalition candidate in the event of any ally losing its nominee.

“We have published the list of our candidates after discussions with Awami League,” read the release, adding that the candidates for the three remaining seats will be announced later.

JP candidates in the northern districts, traditional strongholds of the party, are Hafiz Uddin Ahmed for Thakurgaon-3, Jafar Iqbal Siddique for Nilphamari-1, Kazi Faruk Quader for Nilphamari-3, Shawkat Chowdhury Nilphamari-4, Mujibur Rahman Lalmonirhat-2, Golam Mohammad Quader Lalmonirhat-3, Asif Shariar Rangpur-1, Anisul Islam Mondol Rangpur-2, HM Ershad Rangpur-3, Karim Uddin Bharosha Rangpur-4, SM Fakhruzzman Rangpur-5, AKM Mostafizur Rahman Kurigram-1, HM Ershad Kurigram-2, Maidul Islam Kurigram-3, Golam Habib Dulal Kurigram-4, Md Abdul Quader Khan Gaibandha-1, Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi Chowdhury Gaibandha-3, Ali Mahbub Gaibandha-4, Rowshan Ershad Gaibandha-5, Shariful Islam Jinna Bogra-2, MA Talha Natore-1, and Aminul Islam Jhantu Sirajganj-2.
