Six Shibir activists arrested on Monday night while holding a secret meeting, were remanded yesterday.

The court of the Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate granted one day's remand following a prayer by the Investigation Officer (IO) for three days' remand on Tuesday.

The Shibir men are Mostafa Araf, 23, Mojammel Hossain, 22, Syed Moin Uddin, 25, Ishtiak Reza, 24, Moinul Hasan, 24, and Rashed Chowdhury, 23.

They were arrested alongwith a number of Islamist books on Monday night at the time the Shibir men were holding a secret meeting on the rooftop of a seven-storey building at Gulistan Residential Area in city's Ghat Forhad Beg area keeping the gates of the building under lock and key, police said.

IO Sadip said the Shibir men were arrested under Section 54 and brought to the police station yesterday for quizzing.
